If you are reading this page, you may be asking why do I need a Saviour”?  Let’s get right into it.

Man Disobeyed God

Genesis 2:15 – 17 (KJV)

15. And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

16. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

God instructs Adam, the very first man, that he could eat of every tree of the garden except from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He was also warned that if he did, or disobey, he would surely die

Genesis 3:1-8 (KJV)

  1. Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
  2. And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
  3. But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
  4. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
  5. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
  6. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
  7. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
  8. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

In chapter two of the book of Genesis we see that God clearly instructs Adam not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Unfortunately, we see that ultimately Eve was deceived by a serpent, and then gives some of the forbidden fruit to Adam to eat as well.  Adam knowingly makes a decision to disobey God and eat of the forbidden fruit. As a result of this act of disobedience, they did something that would  have an effect on them for the rest of their lives.

This decision to disobey God meant that at the very moment Adam bit into the fruit of the forbidden tree, that they both began to die. In addition, sin entered the world. We must remember that both were originally created to live forever, but at the moment of Adam’s disobedience, death would be in their future. As one continues to read chapter 3 one will see that there are many other consequences that both Adam and Eve had to endure. Now let’s discuss how this affected us.

Adam Passed Sin and Death to All Mankind

Romans 5:12

12)Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Adam’s decision to disobey God didn’t just affect him. His sinful act of disobedience affected all generations to come after him.  This consequence of disobedience meant that every person that would ever be born after him would be born into sin since sin entered the world. As a result, all human beings that would ever be born would be born with a sin nature. This means that you and all of your family members were born into sin and would be subject to death.

Romans 3:23

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Sin Separates Us From God

Isaiah 59:1-2

1)Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

2)But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Before Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying God, mankind was created to have a relationship with God. When Adam sinned by eating of the tree of the knowledge good and evil, sin became a part of their life and all those that would be born after them.  The problem with sin is that God can’t stand sin. He hates it. He hates it so much so that he could no longer maintain the relationship that he had with Adam and Eve prior to sin entering the world. As a result, this means that every baby that was born into the world was born separated from God because of Sin.

Sin is a big deal. It is something that if not dealt with, will keep man from experiencing the Love of God. 1 John 4:8 say, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” Because sin separates man from God, it means that man is born in a state where they are not able to have an intimate relationship with God.

God Always Desired To Have A Close Relationship With Man-Kind

If we look back at Genesis 3:8 we see that God would talk to Adam and Eve during the cool of the day. This lets us know that God wanted to have a relationship with mankind. Because of the sin that Adam and Eve committed it affected all that would ever be born. Just like you who are reading this resource. I was born into the same sin that separated us from God. The good news is that God had a redemptive plan so that we could have that relationship with us that he desired. This plan came in the form of  his only begotten son Jesus Christ.

God’s plan of redemption and salvation for mankind was accomplished when Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world.  According to John 3:16 God loved the world so much that gave his only son, Jesus Christ, who would one day die on Calvary’s cross for the sins of the world. As believers, we believe that Jesus did indeed die, but he rose to life again three days later.

According to Romans 10:9-10, if we confess Jesus Christ and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead then we shall be saved.  In addition, we believe that we must repent of our sins according to Acts 3:19.

How To Become A Saved Christian Believer

A |  Admit that are a sinner in need of a Saviour asking for forgiveness.

B | Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, but rose again

C | Confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour

What Are We Saved From?

  1. The penalty of sin:

    • According to Scripture (Romans 6:23), “the wages of sin is death.” This includes both physical death and spiritual separation from God (often referred to as hell). Salvation means being delivered from this eternal separation.

  2. The power of sin:

    • Salvation is not just about escaping punishment; it also means being set free from sin’s control over one’s life (Romans 6:14). Through Christ, believers receive the Holy Spirit who empowers them to live righteously.

  3. God’s wrath and judgment:

    • Romans 5:9 says, “Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!” Salvation spares believers from the righteous judgment of God.

  4. Spiritual death:

    • Before salvation, people are spiritually dead in their sins (Ephesians 2:1). Salvation brings spiritual life, reconciling believers to God.

  5. Eternal separation from God:

    • Christians believe salvation grants eternal life in the presence of God (John 3:16), rather than eternal separation.

  6. Bondage to worldly values and Satan’s influence:

    • Colossians 1:13 says God “has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.”

In essence, Christians are saved from sin and its consequences, and into a relationship with God—a life of transformation, hope, and eternal life through Jesus Christ.
